May 13-16, 2010 – Motorcycle riders help celebrate the Blue Ridge Parkway 75th Anniversary at the Asheville Bikefest. Events include a poker run, dealer demo rides, entertainment and a whole lot of motorcycle riding.
Wheels Through Time Museum will be sponsoring a vintage bike ride-in, bike show, swap meet, and field games.

Cheoah River Whitewater Rafting Release Dates 2010

Whitewater enthusiasts converge on the Cheoah River to raft and kayak the Class IV rapids when the waters are unleashed from Santeetlah Dam.
The Cheoah River offers nine miles of heart pounding whitewater adventure running along US Hwy 129. Just a few minutes from the famous Tail of the Dragon and the Dragon at Deals Gap, this area is well known to motor enthusiasts for its 318 turns in 11 miles.

Thunder in the Smokies Rally 2010

April 23 – 25, 2010 – Motorcycle enthusiasts are heading to Maggie Valley, North Carolina for the Handlebar Corral’s spring Thunder in the Smokies Rally. Enjoy scenic roads, vendors, bands, bike shows, and a Sunday Pancake Breakfast.
Be sure to ride the Blue Ridge Parkway, slay the Dragon, hike Mingo Falls by Cherokee, and tour Wheels Through Time Museum while you are in town.

Z-Dayz 2010 at the Dragon

May 17-23, 2010 - The ZdayZ group returns for its 7th year at the Dragon at Deals Gap and the Tail of Dragon, NC. Fontana Village Resort, just off Hellbender Highway 28, will be the headquarters for this event catering to Datsun/Nissan Z-car, Infiniti G35/G37, and GTR sports car enthusiasts.

Volkswagon R32 at the Dragon

April 8-12, 2010 – The East Coast VW R32 owners club is having their 4th annual event at the Tail of the Dragon the second weekend in April. They hope to have over 100 owners take to the roads around the Smoky Mountains for the filming of their professional video. Here’s some footage from the 2009 event.

MINIS on the Dragon

Apr 28 to May 2, 2010 - Join over 600 Mini Cooper enthusiasts, or Miniacs, as they drive the Smoky Mountain roads of North Carolina.
The main attraction of course is the 318 turns in 11 miles on Highway 129. Known as the Dragon at Deals Gap and Tail of the Dragon, this famous stretch of road is joined by the Hellbender 28 and the Cherohala Skyway as favorites among drivers on both 2 and 4 wheels.
This 8th annual MOTD celebration will be based at Fontana Village and draws Mini Cooper owners from over 32 states
